Would like to create 5 webpages like so (please see uploaded images)
(45 videos in playlist):
If I were to go to webpage 2 and click on the 3rd thumbnail it would then play that video and continue until the end of the playlist and restart from the beginning of the 45 video playlist.
Can the Video Player accomplish this?
I hope I’ve explained it clearly. Your help on the matter greatly appreciated.

Hello mdamion,
Currently, you can open any video in a playlist and the whole playlist will play until the end from that point. Unfortunately, it won’t start again from the first video, the user will have to click on the play button to do so.
You can check the behaviour of videos in a longer playlist yourself in this demo.
Thanks,
EduardHello mdamion,
I apologize for the misinformation, it actually is possible to make the playlist start over again with using the parameter loop=”true”. This doesn’t work for YouTube playlists (although works for regular playlists compiled from YouTube-hosted videos), which is an issue we are going to fix in the near future.
Thanks,
EduardThank you for the quick response. Great. Now that we have established that we can set the parameter “loop=true”. Let’s say I have a playlist of 45 videos and I divided it into 5 different webpages. If I clicked a video in any of the 5 webpages, is there a way where I can send it to maybe a 6th webpage that has all 45 videos and starts playing from the video I clicked? (This is a work-around) I just now thought of). Thanks again.
Hello mdamion,
Do you mean that you would use the same playlist on different webpages, or you would break the videos to let’s say five different playlists that would be linked together in some way?
Or are you looking for a way to open a video in a playlist at a certain point from a link? That is actually available, you can read more about it in this guide – Creating Video Links in FV Player.
Thanks,
EduardOnly 1 playlist with 45 videos. I was trying to come up with ways which could make things easier. All five pages (9 videos per page) are somehow linked to that 1 playlist. If I click the 2nd video on page 3 it starts playing from video number 20 from the 45 video playlist, and it would play to the last video and loop to the 1st video of the 45 video playlist and continue to play indefinitely.
One more example: If I click the 6th video on page 4 it starts playing from video number 33 from the 45 video playlist, and it would play to the last video and loop to the 1st video of the 45 video playlist and continue to play indefinitely.
I hope this clears things up. Please let me know if this is a doable scenario. Thanks you.Hi I am curious about this feature as well. I believe there is a random autoplay for playlists so I’m hoping there’s a similar way to achieve this. Here is the scenario:
6 Pages each with the same playlist (video 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in that order). The end of playlist action is always triggered after video 6 as that is the last item in the playlist.
Page 1 – Starts @ video 1
Page 2 – Starts @ video 2
Page 3 – Starts @ video 3
Page 4 – Starts @ video 4
Page 5 – Starts @ video 5
Page 6 – Starts @ video 6So basically a parameter that lets you specify which video to start the playlist with, then they continue playing in the order of the playlist.
Hello mdamion and Allyn,
I’m still not sure if I understand this correctly, but as I said, the video link feature (described here) in combination with the loop=”true” parameter should let you create a playlist that will start at the exact video/time you want and loop the playback of the whole playlist even after it finishes.
Thanks,

I would like to have a way to set the playlist to start at a certain video without having to use a custom url with parameters. Maybe I can explain it another way that makes more sense…
We are using the playlist feature for a television show that has 6 episodes. Each episode of the show has it’s own page. Currently we have the playlist shortcode on each episode page and we put the episodes in order. So for episode 2 the playlist order is episode 2,3,4,5,6,1. That way the page for episode 2 has all the episodes for a show accessible on the page and starts with episode 2 at the top of the playlist.
This has worked fine for us until we decided to add the end of playlist action. If you are on the page for episode 2 then the playlist end action is triggered after episode 1 where as it should trigger after episode 6 since that’s the end of the show. Instead of starting the playlist at episode 2 we started the playlist at episode 1 then the playlist end action would be triggered correctly after episode 6.
If we could either set which video we want the playlist to start auto playing or set which video the end of playlist action is triggered after then this would solve our issue.
Hi Allyn,
Thanks for the suggestion and the concrete examples (they help a lot). We’ve spent some time discussing this internally. There are big changes coming to playlist (stored in a database going forward).
What we’d like to add here are:
1. a parameter allowing you to specify the start video within a particular instance (won’t change the database version but just the starting video)
2. an end of playlist action (which happens on the last video in a playlist)These improvements should resolve your issues. For the time being, the solution is to avoid any kind of end of playlist action.
Thanks.
Alec
PS. Feel free to post any other workflow requests. I really appreciate them and we need to know about issues in the field to be able to make publishers’ lives easier.
Hi Allyn,
The work on redesigning the playlist shortcodes, which Alec has mentioned, is still in progress. It is a longer project that depends largely on finishing our core update to FV Player 7, so it’s hard to tell when it will be finished, but we will definitely announce it on the changelog and on our blog, once it’s finished and released.
Thanks,
Eduard
