the plugin was not really designed with this in mind.

What you can do is to leave the plugin’s option “Directory slug name:” empty. Then you should be able to use your shortcode in a page which you can set as a homepage in Settings -> Reading. That would show the links you have in your root category, but all the sub categories would have ugly URLs without rewrite.

If you are a programmer and you see that you can make some changes in the code to make this work, we are open to your contribution.

On the other hand, if this functionality is very important for your work and you are able to make a donation as either individual or group, we could be persuaded to accelerate the development for this feature.

there must be some CSS issue. You might want to diagnose that. You can try to do a preview with different template and see if it’s better. Or you can use our professional plugin support, we will be happy to resolve your issue and let you know what was causing the issue, so it won’t repeat in future.

sorry about the delay, something happened to our forum notifications.

We know the kind of issues you are talking about. Sometimes the third party server is overloaded and is slows down your entire website if it’s loading some images or scripts from that server. It could be gravatars, sharing buttons or even stat tracking codes.

That’s one of the ideas behind FV Gravatar Cache, it reduces the amount of external images on site.

We haven’t noticed any issues within admin section yet and the gravatars are not cached in it. One of the issues is that we would have to cache different sizes of the same gravatar.

1. Regarding you questions about image formatting – you need to fix this in your template CSS file. Both the issue with bullets and the issue with image border. That’s your master setting which you are looking for. It requires some HTML and CSS knowledge, but that’s the right way of fixing issues like this, no need to adjust the styling in the editor.

2. Editor size setting is described on this WordPress.org page, it’s the “Size of the post box”.

3. Dropdown customization – you can read about this in our Foliopress WYSIWYG Installation Guide, Dropdown customization section.

I’m not sure what could be wrong here, so let’s try this:

1. when you visit the wp-admin -> Settings -> FV Gravatar Cache screen, check the “Cache directory” path. It should be like public_html/wp-content/plugins/fv-gravatar-cache/images/

2. If you copy your desired image into this directory, name it “default.png” and make sure it has the proper dimensions, it should be visible in the options screen and also in the comments on the site.

To get the Mistery Man image, just edit the s=32 parameter in this URL and open it in your browser: http://1.gravatar.com/avatar/ad516503a11cd5ca435acc9bb6523536?s=32

Well, that’s the workaround. The image will disappear again if you click “Empty Cache”. But let’s see if this helps with your site, perhaps then it will be more clear where the issue is.

we are sorry about the issues, but we can’t replicate the issues you are having. I would suggest that you turn all the plugins off and only keep Disable wpautop active and try if it still deletes your posts on saving.

If it does, then there must be something wrong with your template (functions.php might contain some bad code) or other plugins, as it’s a really simple plugin which literally doesn’t do any processing of the text. It would be a good test to make sure your WordPress works properly.

1. if this happening on a custom post type or even on normal posts? Are you sure that the Foliopress WYSIWYG editor loads correctly and you are not getting the standard WordPress editor?

Just have a look at our screenshot here and make sure that’s the editor you are seeing.

2. What kind of formating are you using? Do you mean only paragraphs and heading, or are you also using inline styling? Are you using WordPress Multisite?

3. Are you using any plugin to add additional WYSIWYG editors for some other fields on the editing screen? Are you able to turn off the other plugins and test this again?

This option shows up only on WordPress sites which have comment moderation turned on (see “An administrator must always approve the comment” and “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” in Settings -> Discussion). It shows up as “Allow user to comment without moderation” and it is effectively a whitelist for the moderation.

If your blog is not using moderation, there is no option to put user into moderation in our plugin. WordPress already has this option – just put the user email address into the “Comment Moderation” text field in Settings -> Discussion.

reading your description of the problem, I’m not sure what could happen to your site. It looks like you are having issues with the default WordPress editor – tinyMCE. There is probably conflict with some other plugin, or you have visual editor disabled in your WordPress User preferences.

You might try to install our plugin and see if it works on your site, if the default editor is broken.

if the comment author’s gravatar is not cached yet, the external version from Gravatar server will be shown. The plugin keeps caching the gravatars, so with time it will come to the new one, cache it and then it will show the cached version.

I guess you are using some special template which shows all the custom post meta values. We didn’t counted on this, but we can fix this in the next release.

Our custom meta value is not showing in the “Custom Fields” editing box when you edit a post, because it’s an Array, so at least that part works ok.

if that worked it was just a side effect. I was not our goal with this plugin.

WordPress 3.3 includes some changes in how the rewrite rules are generated for categories and pages, so putting in support for /subcategory URLs would be tricky, as it would have to check for the pages on the same URL.

If you use hierarchical categories and then you want all the URLs on the same level, I would suggest that you make all the categories master categories and then organize them into structure in the WordPress menu. You can build any structure there and not worry about the actual structure of your categories.

if you are using Mac computer and you don’t have the right mouse button, you need to hold the Control or “ctrl” key and click the image to see the available options (same as any other contextual menu on Mac).

Then pick the desired image size with just the mouse click – don’t hold the Control key.

Foliopress WYSIWYG works only for posts, pages and derived custom post types.

Sorry, it does not work for comment fields.

What exactly do you mean by topic description? Sounds like you expect our plugin to be compatible with some other plugin you are using.

We are currently providing no general hook for our editor which would allow it to work on any text input field of any plugin. The main plugin object has fv_wysiwyg_load() function which replaces the post editing textarea with id ‘content’, so that part would have to be rewritten. If you know a bit of programming, you can probably figure it out – we will be happy to include your improvements.

If this functionality is very important for your work and you are able to make a donation as either individual or group, we could be persuaded to accelerate the development for this feature.

We prefer our comment and other forms plain text.

Can you try to go into Settings -> Permalinks and hit “Save Changes”? That should reset the WordPress rewrite rules. Let us know if that helps please.

Otherwise you can remove the plugin and install previous version 1.1.3 from a zip file here:

Also, if you try to open a link like ‘http://blog.com/child-category’ and the correct link is ‘http://blog.com/parent-category/child-category’ – then the WordPress will try to redirect you to some post or page I think which has similar slug. So that would be the reason to the weird redirection issue you are seeing.

you should look at 3 random articles you wrote and check the <meta name=”description”> tags in their source code. It should contain the correct meta description as entered with FV Simpler SEO.

If it does not, then it could be a problem with your theme or a conflict with some other plugin.

Our plugin is great for moderating larger discussions where you need to see the comments in context, rather than seeing them all sorted by time regardless of to which article they belong. We don’t redo this basic WordPress functionality, we just extend the moderation interface to the front-end.

Foliopress WYSIWYG 0.9.20 is out. It doesn’t have the IE9 fix yet, but it has the Youtube button, which can be used for pasting of any Embed code and also any HTML code, so it comes handy.

Regarding the IE9 issues – we discovered that when you switch IE9 to IE8 mode, it works with our editor. We suggest this in our compatibility warning message when editing. Hopefully it will work at least for the more advanced users.

first of all, thank you for your interest in our plugin.

I believe this works properly in our plugin. WordPress always picks the category with the lowest ID for the permalink, if you use structure like /%category%/%postname%.html

So if you have parent and child category and you assign post to both, it will end up as /parent/postname.html if you assign only child category, it will be /parent/child/postname.html

If you are aware of this, then the issue must be somewhere else, perhaps some conflict with another plugin. Can you try to disable all the plugins and switch to default template and do the testing again?

thank you very much for a nice bug report.

It looks like some of the PHP warnings might be damaging the JavaScript code present in the window. We check our error logs on our sites to make sure our plugins are not filling them with errors, but we haven’t seen these before.

Could you try to save the plugin options in WP Admin -> Settings -> Foliopress WYSIWYG to see if it works afterwards? The options are initialized properly together with the plugin, but there might be a glitch in that.

We will test your issues and see if we can get to the same error. We also prepare some performance tweaks for the new version.

Foliopress WYSIWYG is using your theme CSS if you specify the wrapper ID or class element. We describe the whole configuration process here:

So your site has a lot of pages with URLs ragiong from http://example.com/page/2 up to http://example.com/page/200 and titles ranging from “Example blog – Part 2” to “Example blog – Part 200”, is that right?

And Google Webmaster tools or similar SEO utility is saying that you have too many similar titles? We suggest that you ignore warnings like this, just changing these titles by inserting some random text as you suggest would remove the warnings, but it makes no sense.

The issue here is that your blog has a lot of URLs which have /page/ in them, so that might lead search engines to assume that “page” is one of your keywords. We try to eliminate these issues on our some of our WP sites which are not really blogs by not providing the paging feature on the homepage and instead featuring the site content in few content boxes on the homepage. Each of these boxes might list one of the main categories and then link to archive for that category.
