Slow Motion: we can definitely add a slow motion button to the player, John.
Martin, let’s add an option for slow motion with + – signs this week.
10 years ago in reply to: Creating a loop functionHi John,
We definitely do custom development. Here’s a pricelist for some common requests. Of course we do completely custom work as well.
Thanks for asking.

10 years ago in reply to: Flash support for HLS and MPEG-DASHHi Alessandro,
Thanks for writing.
We’re FV Player or FVP, not FP (for clarity). There’s nothing we can do about the limits of Cloudfront.
What would you like us to do here?

10 years ago in reply to: Player for codeigniterHi Seyed,
Our code won’t work without WordPress unfortunately. It would be a very big project to move our full technology to work standalone.
We could help you build a WordPress membership site though which is really low hassle.
Cordial regards,
Alec
10 years ago in reply to: Player for codeigniterI’ve clarified on speed: Vimeo uses Akamai CDN, which is faster than CloudFront.
10 years ago in reply to: Player for codeigniterHi Seyed,
I’ll answer your questions.
1. Vimeo is pretty fast around the world, although there are some regions where people complain (I’m not sure which ones).
2. Someone who has access can download the file for a short period of time (twenty minutes).
3. No for commercial video, you have to pay $200/year but that includes encoding, hosting the whole works.
4. No advertising.
5. No, links cannot be shared. They expire.Making the web work for you, Alec
10 years ago in reply to: Player for codeigniterHi Seyed,
CodeIgniter is a whole new web framework in place of WordPress. It means starting from scratch.
Vimeo is secure but less secure than Cloudfront RTMP (somebody who is a member would be able to pirate the videos, but that’s true of any system: screen recording is very easy on any platform). I’d be less worried about some piracy and more worried about putting into a place a system you can reliably run so you can focus on building your business.
Our support for Vimeo Pro is free. There’s quite a bit of documentation up on our site already: https://foliovision.com/player/how-to-use-vimeo-pro
I feel badly that Amazon Cloudfront is not working the way you want it to, so I’m happy to offer you a free pro support incident for Vimeo set up.

10 years ago in reply to: Player for codeigniterHi Seyed,
What is it you are trying to do with CodeIgniter?
I’d recommend you go for Vimeo. It’s a much simpler solution (and just $200/year for unlimited videos, unlimited encoding and unlimited views).

10 years ago in reply to: Creating a loop functionYes, that one’s good, John. The A-B looping technology is very easy to use. Martin and I will take a close look at how it’s done.
Thanks for the suggestion.
10 years ago in reply to: Creating a loop function10 years ago in reply to: Creating a loop functionHi John,
This is a great idea but most users can’t be bothered to use something like this.
Could you send us to an implementation you like?
If it’s not too hard to implement, we’ll take a look at it. With the current technology, you could actually set up the loops in advance for the key sections (still using a single file). Would that work for you?

10 years ago in reply to: iPad plays are not shown in Google analyticsHi Pavel,
Thanks for the additional details.
Count clicks for iPads and not plays. It’s a device issue, not a software issue. You of course want the best user experience for your visitors, not a faulty experience with correct counting.

10 years ago in reply to: iPad plays are not shown in Google analyticsHi Pavel,
At one point, we had all iPad videos going to native as there are loading issues with fullscreen mode (not just with our player but with all players on iPad).
All we can track in native player is the exit to native player (i.e. the plays you want). Even returns are difficult to track (where exactly is the return coming from…).
Martin will let you know tomorrow exactly what it is we are currently tracking and what we can track going forward.

iPad is played in native player which doesn’t allow tracking. We could only track people leaving to native player, potentially pick them up when they come back too.

I’m afraid we’ll need more explanation and better examples. What is that you are trying to do?
10 years ago in reply to: I am really dissapointed with you guys!Hi Seyed,
What is the original format of your video files? Could you send me a short piece of original file to have a look at (30 seconds would be enough)?
1. width and height: need to see the original
2. frame rate: 25 fps for Pal and 30 fps for NTSC (I can tell you after seeing the original) – this is important
3. vbr2
4. Target bitrate depends on width/height. My guide has some guidelines.
5. Maximum should be about 20% above target.Unfortunately I can’t help you as much with the Amazon Cloudfront as Martin can.
Here’s how to disable the progress bar, in FV Player Interface Options:
Please let me know if you have further questions. Martin will answer you in detail about the RTMP/Cloudfront issues when he returns.

10 years ago in reply to: I am really dissapointed with you guys!Hi Seyed,
I’m truly sorry to hear about the issues you are having.
I believe we cleared up your issues before the long weekend. Your issues were a priority for us. Martin is away on a scheduled holiday.
If you would follow our directions about how to encode your videos properly, they would play properly. Martin also provided very detailed instructions on how to add additional videos (after setting up some sample videos correctly).
I would suggest that you use the Vimeo Pro solution (it’s a little less secure but far easier technically). Your videos will be encoded correctly for you, hosted for you and our player will play them reasonably securely.

Martin left for an extended weekend tonight (with much deserved time off). If the new version is not there yet, Martin won’t be online to release it until Wednesday next week. If he didn’t release it yet, it means there’s an essential feature to be added or a bug/conflict to stomp.
We will release ASAP.

Yes, your Cloudfront and S3 will work fast after we set it up. It will be our responsibility to make sure that your account is set up for global distribution.
Thanks!
10 years ago in reply to: Video does nto play on ipadHi Seyed,
Yes, we’d need access to your Amazon and a WordPress admin Account while we worked. You can put in a temporary password while we are working and change it back after we are done.
Thanks!
10 years ago in reply to: Video does nto play on ipadHi Seyed,
You can probably get away with just RTMP and Cloudfront here. On the other hand, if I had a swat team going in to fix my Amazon account (and I agree with you, Amazon makes it very complicated to use their advanced hosting), I’d order both Amazon S3 and Cloudfront in the package. After that I’d know both services were set up right and that if there are any issues, I have help on standby to get me back on track.
With a launch coming up, either way I’d move quickly as the last thing I’d want is for my launch to bogged down with any technical issues.
I’ll send you an invoice now for the combined option. If you’d like me to change it, just let me know.
Cordial regards,

I did not agree to hide the Vimeo info yet. I suggest you take Chan’s requests with a grain of salt. He finds five feature requests in his breakfast cereal every month.

10 years ago in reply to: Change case buttonHi Robert,
Not a bad idea. Foliopress WYSIWYG is in maintenance mode right now. Unless we can come up with a way to reboot the project on a commercial basis, we won’t be adding new features.
That said, I like the idea so if you are able to contribute $50 to the project, we’ll add your feature by the end of next week.
Have a great evening!
PS. Mac OS offers case change as a service. On Windows you could use PSpad instead of Word (to avoid formatting issues). On Mac you could use TextWrangler. Both are free and awesome text editors.

10 years ago in reply to: responsive logo?Hi Martin,
I’d like to see some examples of how the logo doesn’t work in mobile and desktop. What I’d recommend is to use a logo size which is small enough to look okay on mobile but is still visible in desktop.
With the right examples, then we could automate making the mobile version half the size rather than putting people through the pain of using two logos.

10 years ago in reply to: responsive logo?Hi Adam,
No, I’m afraid not at this point (although you could probably put in a patch with CSS). I’ll think about this one, but I’d suggest our users are better off with a single compromise size than adding yet another preference to worry about.
Feel free to send in some screenshots to change my mind though.

10 years ago in reply to: Admin: Check failed!Hi Seyed,
The admin check is not required for our plugin to work. For the admin check to work our plugin has to send your video to our server for its health check. Perhaps your server is blocking the outgoing call?
There does seem to be an issue with the configuration of your videos as they are slow to load in Chromium.
Could you try following our encoding guide? HTML 5 is quite fussy about video encoding.

10 years ago in reply to: RTMP IssuesHi Farridav,
You can adjust the expiry time. Still the people who are looking to pirate content won’t be put off by a short expiry time. You might inconvenience paying users though.
If you really want to prevent piracy, you have to go with a strong DRM solution like Brightcove. Be prepared to pay ten to fifty times as much for hosting (Brightcove is set up only for really large corporate customers, who get much better rates than us commoners).
Making the web work for you, Alec
10 years ago in reply to: RTMP IssuesHi Farridav,
We have very detailed documentation on how to set up both Amazon S3 and Cloudfront including MIME type. If you’d like us to set it up for you hands on, we are happy to do so as an additional service.
For a Paywall we recommend using a simple membership solution. We recommend Restrict Content Pro and S2 Member. We are considering an individual fee per video system. The disadvantage of pay per video is that every time the user will have to reenter payment information and will not have an easy way to get back to the video later. We are working on a guide, as well as a service to set membership (including testing and troubleshooting).
Please let me know any thoughts you have about Paywall.

10 years ago in reply to: iPad iOS 8.1 issuesHi Mark,
Thanks for the detailed notes on replicating the playback issue.
Vimeo Plus does not offer a player like this. I highly recommend Vimeo Plus or Vimeo Pro but they are both a lot better with FV Player Pro (which also allows you to have some ultrasecure videos on Amazon Cloudfront via RMTP at the SAME time you have most of your videos on Vimeo Plus).

Hi Dale,
FV Player Pro embeds YouTube video now with API and full functionality. Here is detailed documentation on how to do full YouTube integration: https://foliovision.com/player/youtube-with-flowplayer
Our player and our license is WordPress only. Only our license will work on our player and no other Flowplayer licenses will work with our license (all Flowplayer based licenses are product specific). We do offer crossgrades so if you have an existing Flowplayer 5 or JWplayer license please get in touch.

10 years ago in reply to: Embed for YouTube and Vimeo videosHi Rehan,
Thanks for your request.
Hi Martin,
We should come up with some embedding code which provides video from the original site (YouTube or Vimeo) along with a “via referringwebsite.com” which links to the post/page.
We could even consider sending a wrapper on the original YouTube/Vimeo video. The only issue with this reembedding could violate YouTube/Vimeo TOS and cause our user to have his/her accounts closed. Lucia should have a look at TOS.

10 years ago in reply to: Protection video from downloadHi Nizami,
Vimeo includes a timestamp with the URL which is only valid for 20 minutes so the window of opportunity is fairly short. Amazon Cloudfront works the same way.
One of the downsides of HTML5 video is that clever downloader software can grab the video. This is true of Vimeo, Wistia, YouTube, Amazon Cloudfront.
If you want really secure videos, for the moment it has to be in a Flash player (FV Player can be forced to Flash only). Brightcove is very resilient in Flash (difficult to download from) but is 10X more expensive than any of our other hosting options. Do not believing anybody’s marketing who says they have a 100% secure HTML5 player right now. The URL must go through the browser and can be picked up.
Netflix has just enabled DRM on HTML5 which works with Chrome. Widevine is part of HTML5 going forward. We will add DRM options as soon as they become available.
For the moment, I recommend you keep working with Vimeo as it is by far the easiest and most cost-efficient secure hosting solution on HTML5.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or suggestions for how to improve the plugin or security. I will be personally working on this security issue and it’s a top priority for me.

Making the web work for you, Alec
10 years ago in reply to: link to postHi Johnathan,
I’ve investigated further what happened to this feature.
When you hit the insert link button in default WordPress editor, you get a dialog window where you can search all of your posts and put in a link to post that way.
But then WordPress changed how this works – they no longer use iframe for this dialog, but a JavaScript dialog. That makes it hard for us to integrate it. So we decided to keep the default FCKEditor dialog and not go too deep into re-creating/fixing it. That was about 1.5 years ago.
Our recommended workaround is to search for the post using the standard WordPress search (either on-site or in wp-admin) and then copy-paste the link.
If implementing the built-in search is very important to your client, a $100 donation would allow me to allocate resources to adding it back.

Hi Martin,
Let’s disable the HD version on mobile if it doesn’t work (admin users can get an overlay tip about upgrading to FV Player Pro if there’s an advantage).

Please try FV Player on one of the default themes (TwentyTen, Twenty
Twelve, TwentyThirteen, TwentyFourteen). If FV Player works on the default theme, then the issue is with your theme. If you are a licensed user we will help you troubleshoot your theme or you may choose a pro install instead and we will troubleshoot your theme.
Thanks for trying FV Plugins!

We’ll get back to you Monday with some suggestions on how to make this work. WE definitely do have playlist functionality. Here’s a long topic about playlists to get you started.
We’ll definitely provide more support to get this to work right.
Cordial regards,
Alec
