Hi Mirco,
Yes, the FV Player VAST license has to be renewed yearly. FV Player Pro will be your forever, but it won’t receive updates after the license expires. All other features will remain.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Videos not playing on AndroidHi Michael,
Our encoding guide was missing a note about the necessity of checking the box Web optimized when encoding the MP4s. Is it possible that you have missed this option?
Thanks,
EduardHello markxkr,
I tested your FV Player shortcode and it showed the splash image for me when the video was not playing. Could you send me a link to the page where you are experiencing this?
As for the [video] tag – it preloads a part of the video along with it’s metadata and uses it as a splash image, but that is not loaded as a picture, but shown only through a browser. Not all browsers support this, for instance, you won’t get any splash image this way in Safari on any Apple device, or for instance on all Android devices with OS older than version 6. Therefore it’s more reliable to load an actual image, which is of course shown on all devices and browsers.
Thanks,

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: quality switching and mobile versionsHello Steve,
Could you please let us know what exact version of WP are you using and also your version of FV Player and FV Player Pro? It would also help if you let us know the name of the caching plugin.
Thanks,
EduardHi nsfw123,
We are aware of these problems, yet we have not implemented a solution for them yet, as we did with a similar service – Amazon Drive.
The main issue with Google Drive is that it is not at all made for hosting video. The videos hosted on GD lack support of range requests and also doesn’t show the file size in the HTTP header. Therefore the player must load the whole file before the video can play, which can take a lot of time depending on the file size and network speed. When I was testing this, a 1.2 GB video took 25 minutes to load, which is basically unusable. You also won’t be able to jump on the timeline.
I would recommend trying a different hosting service.
Thanks,
EduardHi Marin,
Unfortunately, the control elements such as quality switching buttons are available only in FV Player’s fullscreen mode, not in the native one. If you were, however, using some kind of adaptive stream, like HLS or MPEG-DASH, the quality would switch automatically.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube Subtitles7 years ago in reply to: Youtube SubtitlesHi Michael,
Here is a demo where you can see how it will work – https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-subtitles.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube SubtitlesHi Michael,
It will be released today and will work automatically. That means that when a YouTube video has subtitles available, they can be immediately set in FV Player. However, if you use custom VTT subtitles, then the subtitles from YT won’t be loaded.
Thanks,
EduardHello Mike,
You are not missing anything – we are currently working on implementing this feature. We’ll let you know when it’s available.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: No sound in SafariHello ATP,
It seems that the Widgetkit is using MediaElement, that causes a compatibility issue with our player. To fix this, you can try the process described in this guide Incompatible Plugins and Scripts, under the part WPLMS Theme (Vibe Course Module plugin).
Fixing the plugin yourself, however, might cause other problems, so I would recommend asking the plugin author for assistance on how to proceed with the MediaElement.
Thanks,
Eduard- This reply was modified 7 years, 4 months ago by Eduard.
Hi Peter,
We discussed a bit and we might add this to our future improvements. Could you please be more specific about what kind of script you would like to use (an example would be perfect) and how is should be triggered? That would be most helpful.
Thank you,
EduardHi Peter,
FV Player currently supports Google Analytics, which is an out-of-the-box solution with lots of features. More details are in this guide Using Google Analytics with FV Player.
As for a custom tracking script – we’ll discuss this suggestion, but we are currently overwhelmed with other features, so it will have to wait. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Website moved from .com to.orgHi Tom,
Yes, you will have to change the domain of your license in https://foliovision.com/my-licenses. You can read more details in this guide – Using FV Player with Sub-domains and Multi-Domains.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Splash Image at the EndHi Adrian,
You should be able to see the splash image – the same one that is displayed in the video box before you start the playback. This is for replacing the default black screen you would get instead.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Delivering ads with expired licenceHi Kobus,
Yes, FV Player VAST will stop working after the expiration, unlike FV Player Pro, which works even when expired (it just won’t receive updates and support). If you choose to renew your license after expiration, you will also have to download a fresh copy of the plugin and reinstall it.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Video (vimeo) not loadingHello Rosy,
It seems that you are enforcing Flash on your website, which makes the videos incompatible with all modern mobile devices and some browsers. You can turn it off by unchecking the box Prefer Flash player by default in Settings > FV Player > Setup tab > Integrations/Compatibility.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: flash:video file not foundHi laurent,
I noticed that the stream plays but it’s served via HTTP. If you have a HTTPS website, the stream won’t work as it’s evaluated as insecure.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: flash:video file not foundHello laurent,
As I said, the crossdomain.xml should be placed on the same server as the stream. Are you using an m3u8 file from some external source? If you, could you send the link so I can check it?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: flash:video file not foundHello laurent,
Sorry, it will not interfere with embedding, but will prevent hotlinking (to the extent described),
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: flash:video file not foundHello laurent,
You need to paste the crossdomain.xml on the server where you have the HLS stream, not into your WP installation folder.
As for the code, specifying your domain will work but will prevent other websites from playing the video through Flash, since the access is limited to your domain only. That might interfere with embedding but still won’t prevent others to play the video on Apple devices.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: flash:video file not foundHello laurent,
The problem is that m3u8 files (or HLS) are made primarily for Apple devices. To make it work on desktop, you will need to have a cross-domain policy on your server (to play it with Flash) and allow CORS requests from your server for HTML5 video support via HLS.js.
It’s all explained in this guide along with how to set everything up – Using HLS With FV Player.
Thanks,
EduardHi liamw99,
It seems that you are using the free version of our player, but using the Vimeo for hosting requires FV Player Pro.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Adding Chromecast to FV PlayerHi Devin,
We are currently working on upgrading the core of our player to Flowplayer 7 technology and it should bring support for Chromecast and Apple TV, but it’s a long run and it probably won’t be done until this fall. We’ll definitely announce it o our blog, though.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube Subtitles7 years ago in reply to: Clickable text links along with timestamps7 years ago in reply to: Clickable text links along with timestampsHi Evélina,
You can clear individual videos from the CloudFront cache, or just certain folders. It depends on what command you use in the Invalidation box.
Our guide says how to clear the whole cache by using the “/*” wildcard, but you can clear an exact folder of a specific HLS stream, for instance “/HLS/stream1” or whatever the path is in your S3. You can read more about it in this AWS guide – Invalidating Objects (Web Distributions Only).
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: No sound in SafariHello ATP,
I checked your video and it seems that the problem is in the audio encoding of the source file. It seems like you used Handbrake to encode the video, but you probably forgot to set AAC in the audio tab and left the Auto Passthrough setting (it’s also mentioned in our encoding guide. Just re-encode the video with the correct audio settings and it should work.
Thank you for bringing this up, because it revealed an issue in our Video Checker, as it didn’t reveal the problem.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube SubtitlesHi Michael,
The YouTube API, unfortunately, doesn’t allow us to control the YouTube subtitles via our player and downloading them is not very easy.

I tried to replicate the issue again today and the videos don’t drop to lower quality anymore. Could you please check if the issue still persists on your end?
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
If the links to the pages where you are experiencing the video issues are not public, you can share them via https://revealit.me/. It creates an encrypted message that can be opened only once and then deletes itself, so you can safely post it here on the forum.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Alignment of playlistsHi Pesi,
I wrote you a reply in the other thread you started on this topic – https://foliovision.com/support/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/how-to/align-settings
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Align SettingsHi Pesi,
Sorry, the fault is actually in our player. We are currently making some fixes in the playlist styles, so this issue should be fixed in the next update and we are also going to add a new style. The update was supposed to roll out yesterday, but we found some mistakes in it. It should be published soon, though.

Thanks for your suggestion. We will discuss this internally and I’ll let you know if we decide to move forward with it.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Align SettingsHi Pesi,
I just noticed we had an outdated picture in the Alignment Settings so I replaced it. Don’t forget to activate the option for the shortcode editor.
However, if the shortcode parameters are not working as you have described, then maybe there is some kind of compatibility issue between FV Player and your theme. Could you send us a link to the page where you are experiencing the issue, so we could take a look?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Custom start and end timeHi Jonathon,
What do you mean by “youtube playlist broken”? Did it stop working on your website? If so, could you send us a link?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Advanced Custom Fields with FV PlayerHi Jason,
We had some problems with this in the past and we added the support for the shortcode editor in the code view in the native WordPress editor (TinyMCE) and also for our own Foliopress WYSIWYG. What editor are you using?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHi Mirco,
If you want to serve a VAST ad in front of a video hosted on YouTube and served through FV Player, you will need both the FV Player Pro (the free version doesn’t support YouTube videos) and FV Player VAST. We now offer them in a bundle with reduced price $199 for a single domain.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHi Mirco,
If you are referring to a VAST ad in pre-roll, then you will need to use it with our FV Player VAST plugin. It’s not available in a trial version, but you can test your VAST tags in our tester to see how they will work.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube SubtitlesHi Michael,
If you mean the demo on this page (the second video), then you can use the button in the bottom right corner of the video box (it looks like three horizontal stripes) during the playback. It will open a small drop-down list where you can select the language of the subtitles or turn them off.
Thanks,

Could you let us know which membership plugin are you using for future reference?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Logged Out User Can't Play VideoHi Miles,
I checked both videos and they seem to be working fine. However, my colleague checked it on Monday and he saw a JavaScript error in the site code. It was the call for a “base64” JavaScript function in the footer signup form and such function doesn’t exist.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Ads not workingHi Mohammed,
Sorry for the late response. We are currently working on improving the whole structure of the overlay ads, which will be updated in the near future. This particular issue might be caused by the lack of responsivity of the ad container, which often doesn’t show an ad on mobile simply because it doesn’t fit in the resolution set for the desktop. Sometimes the ad will be shown when you tilt the mobile to a panoramic view.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Force iframe Embedding7 years ago in reply to: How to Use Vimeo with WordPressHi Jason,
Yes, you can, but the feature is only available in FV Player Pro. You can read more about it in this guide – How to Use Custom Start/End Time.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Vast is not working with Doubleclick codeHi Jason,
I checked your licenses in our database and it seems that you own only the FV Player Pro. Serving VAST or VPAID ads with your videos requires additional plugin – FV Player VAST.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: How to Use Vimeo with WordPressHi Jason,
Of course. You can see test it yourself in this demo – Playback Speed. The first video is hosted on Vimeo.
Thanks,
EduardHi Evélina,
The crossdomain.xml should be open to all domains to make the Flash fallback work. You can see an example XML policy in the same guide Martin sent you, under the part Using in Browsers with Flash.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Lightbox For Full Size ImagesHi Amir,
Sorry, I misunderstood. Now I see that there might be an issue in our plugin with parsing the srcset attribute. We’ll fix it in the next update.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Lightbox For Full Size ImagesHi Amir,
What dimensions you have set in the shortcode for both lightbox images?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Ads not workingHi Mohammed,
Please make sure that you are using a correct ad block size in the FV Player settings – it should be the same as the size of the ad in your AdSense settings.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: stream.m3u8Hi Pino,
Please make sure to follow our guide Using HLS With FV Player and set correctly the CORS headers for using the HLS.js. Let me know if that doesn’t resolve your compatibility issues.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Playlist now showing upHi Viktor,
The problem is that you are using a free player on your website, which supports playlists, but doesn’t support the embedding of YouTube videos. You can either purchase the Pro license, or switch to another hosting.
We’ll make sure to make this more apparent in the backend by marking the settings that are unavailable.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: No video streaming with version 6.1Hello bjol,
No files were attached. Try to share it via cloud, or something like that.
Thanks,
EduardHi Scott,
I checked the link in Chrome (version 58.0.3029.110) and the text was there as it was supposed to. That is a good thing, because that and the fact that you can see it in an incognito window means that the problem, whatever it is, is limited to your Chrome installation on your computer only.
You said in the video that you re-installed, but I’m not sure whether that actually clears the browser cache, so that’s the first step that you could try. You can do so just by opening developer tools (F12), then right clicking on the refresh button and selecting Empty Cache and Hard Reload. Let me know if that helped.
Thanks,
EduardHi Scott,
Interesting problem. Is it possible to send us a link to the page where it’s happening, so we can take a look?
Thanks,
EduardHi Erik,
I think that it could be done, but if you would want to encrypt the stream in Amazon Elastic Transcoder, you would have to use S3 for the output. CloudFront can be set to serve from custom origin domain though. You would also have to generate an encryption key in AWS to use it with FV Player.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Check videos7 years ago in reply to: Check videos7 years ago in reply to: Check videosHello Claudette,
I checked some of the videos both on a desktop and on a tablet (iPad) and they all worked ok. Is the user getting any particular error or the buffering of the video stops? And what exact type of device is he using?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Check videosHello Claudette,
Thank you for reporting your issues. Unfortunately, the URL you have posted is not accessible (probably leads to the membership-only part of your website). Could you please create a test post with a video in FV Player, so we could see the issue?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Won't Upgrade to Pro (I think)Hi Scott,
Thank you for reporting this, we’ll double check our auto installing button. In the meanwhile you can download the Pro plugin from https://foliovision.com/my-licenses as a zip file and install it manually.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Insert YouTube Live Stream BroadcastHi Erik,
There is, unfortunately, no 100% protection of any content that is online. There are however plenty of security measures you can use. We wrote this short article about those that our player supports – Protecting Video from Downloading.
The best thing you can do right now is to use the encrypted HLS streaming (FV Player Pro required) hosted on Amazon S3 and delivered through CloudFront. The encryption will make it very hard to download the video and even if a user would manage to do that, he would need the decryption key to watch the videos. You can read more about HLS and how to make the most of it in this guide – Using HLS With FV Player.
We also offer a simple feature that will watermark your videos in a way that it will be barely visible during the playback but can be found when checking the video frame by frame. The feature is called DRM Text and can be used for proving that you are the original source of the content if someone decides to screen capture it.
Thanks,

FV Player is inactive on your site. Could you please make a test post so we can test the video on your site on Android 7.1.1?
Thanks,
EduardHi James,
We can see the issue on your website and were able to replicate it on some of our test sites, but not all of them. We’re working on fixing this and a fix should be ready on Monday.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: Mobile Video Icon overlappingHi Ankit,
Could you please send us the exact types of the phones you were using along with the versions of the OS and name of the browser? We were testing this on Android 4.4.4 and iOS 10.2.1 and the video played without any issues on both.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: VolumeHi Nanda,
You also mentioned that you set the volume on mobile to the max. Is it possible that the low volume might just be encoded to the audio track of the source video? By that I mean, does it play so silent outside FV Player?
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: VolumeHi Nanda,
If you are testing this on mobile, then you should know that the default volume setting doesn’t affect mobile device – that is because of the core device restrictions. The sound on mobile can be adjusted only by the hardware buttons, never by software settings.
If you are experiencing this on the desktop, then try to use the Incognito mode of your browser for testing. This is because the default sound settings work only until the user changes it. If you set the sound to the max, someone plays the video and turns the volume down a bit, then this setting will write into the browser settings and will be the new default on his browser, no matter the FV Player settings. This, of course, doesn’t affect anyone else, just the user’s browser.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: Mobile Video Icon overlappingHi Ankit,
Could you please try to turn on the Use old code option in Settings > FV Player > Setup tab > Integrations/Compatibility? Let us know if that fixed it, because we have updated our code recently and it might be the cause of the issue.
Thanks,
EduardHi James,
Could you please try to go Settings > FV Player and click on Save All Changes? You don’t even have to change any settings.

We are also going to add back the option to modify the colours of the buttons in FV Player skin settings – it will probably be available in the next update. It looks like it was not properly moved from the previous version. Thank you for pointing this out.

Eduard8 years ago in reply to: TS filesHello Dr David,
You can use self-hosted videos as custom video ads, but the TS format is not supported. It would be best if you could convert it to MP4. Check our guide about encoding for HTML5 for more information.

Eduard8 years ago in reply to: Video player for FacebookHi Nathan,
It actually is in the shortcode editor, just make the option active in Settings > FV Player Pro > Setup tab > Post Interface Options and there check the box Sharing Buttons. Now you can edit the settings for each video individually.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: How can I cahnge the colors of the buttons?Hi Renato,
At this moment, you can edit the button colours with CSS. Just add this selector to your theme’s style sheet:
.flowplayer .fp-duration, .flowplayer a.fp-play, .flowplayer a.fp-mute {color: #27CE73 !important;}
Just change the “color” value to whatever colour you need.
Thanks,
EduardHi Ahmed,
We usually use the 600k, 1M, 2M settings, but if you need more variants, you could use 400k, 800k, 1200k and 2200k. It’s easy to create your own profiles, so you can use whatever you want. Here is a https://developer.apple.com/library/content/technotes/tn2224/Art/tn2224_settings_May_2016.jpg made by Apple, that might help you.
As for the license acquisition URL – no, the encrypted stream is created for a specific page only.
Thanks,
EduardHi Ahmed,
We have just released new version of FV Player Pro (0.8.17), that improves the DRM Text by adding the rotation of the text box position and also adds the site name to the text.

Eduard8 years ago in reply to: vast tags are not displayingHi Sathish,
You are right, I tested the tag outside our domain and it didn’t work, so it’s probably for foliovision.com only. I acquired it by asking their support (support@lkqd.com), so you might do the same and they will create a test tag for you.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: i need some information about qualityHi Ahmed,
No, because m3u8 is an HLS stream format and that means the quality is always switched automatically. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about quality switching, because it is adjusted during playback. You can read some more details about how it works in our guide Using HLS With FV Player.
Thanks,
Eduard8 years ago in reply to: BIG BIG PROBLEMHi Antonio,
Could you please use the Check template button in the FV Player settings and let us know what it reports?
Thanks,
EduardHi Ahmed,
1) I’ll discuss it with the rest of the team. Thanks for the idea.
2) The Access Key stored in the FV Player Pro settings is set only once, but the Encryption Key is different for each transcoding job, therefore for each HLS stream
3) The point of HLS is that it will automatically switch to optimal quality based on the viewer’s bandwidth and the device he’s using, so you don’t have to worry about that. The pre-sets you are using are ok, but you don’t have to limit yourself to them and create your own. But more presets means transcoding and storing more data, so keep that in mind. I think that having about 4-5 qualities should cover all possible devices, maybe except 4k and such.
Thanks,
Eduard
