Hello Peter,
It looks like the issue with the missing chapters happens when you open your website as HTTP, instead of HTTPS. You should add a redirection for all the http:// links.
However, we encountered some buffering issues on iOS 10 while testing this. Could you please paste a screenshot of the Video Checker‘s report on of this video?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Blog description in googleHello Jacek,
Unfortunately, Google uses the actual search keyword to adjust the article snippet as it sees fit to show the users what they are looking for. It certainly doesn’t use meta description all the time.
On the other hand, using meta description is still a good practice for SEO and you certainly shouldn’t abandon this practice.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: No add media flow player buttonHello goefffudge,
Just for your information, FV Player now fully supports Visual Composer. You will now be able to use the shortcode editor in the Text Block editor in both Backend and Frontend editing modes. Just update FV Player plugin to version 6.3 and you can use this function without any further settings.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHello Steve,
Thanks for the detailed description of your problem. I checked the video on your test page and it seems to me from the response in the browser’s dev console that the file can’t be loaded because of wrong access key. Could you try to update the AWS access keys by following this guide?
Another cause of this issue (although I don’t think that this is the root of the problem) could be the fact that your website is on HTTPS and your video is served via HTTP. Is it possible that you upgraded to HTTPS recently?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHello Mirco,
I tested your shortcode on one of our test sites and it works ok in Firefox as well as in other browsers. You can see it here – http://lucia.foliopress.net/mirco-test/ (frontend login: foliovision, password HiddenWebsite).
Could you please send me a link to the page where you posted the video on your website so I can test it there? It would also help if you could check the version of your Firefox browser.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Does it work in Elementor?Hi Eduard,
It’s tricky with the page builders because there is a lot of them that are popular and each behaves a little differently. Our player currently works with Divi builder and we are planning to make it work better with Visual Composer.
We could possibly add support for Elementor sometime in the future. If you are seriously interested though, we are always open to doing custom programming for a fee.
Thanks,

I tested our player with Elementor and the shortcode editor is unfortunately not supported. The only way to use it is to manually edit the shortcodes. However, we are actively looking for ways to make our player compatible with page builders and we’ll let you know when we make any progress on this.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube SubtitlesHi Michael,
Thanks for pointing this out. The difference between these two videos is that the first one has auto-generated subtitles and the second one has a regular subtitle file attached. Therefore the default setting is not a factor here.
Auto-generated subtitles work differently, but we haven’t analyzed them yet. We might do so in the future, though.
Thanks,
EduardHi mille,
We are planning to add that kind of feature in the upcoming months, but it’s too early to have a precise time estimate. We will certainly announce it on our blog, though.
Thanks,
EduardHi Luke,
The message says that you should encode your video to a higher bitrate with Baseline profile, instead of the current High Profile. The High Profile is mainly for bigger screens and Baseline is especially good for mobile devices because their lower computing power.
Some of the older Android and iOS devices can have problems with playing videos encoded with non-Baseline profiles, so you could give it a try and re-encode it with HandBrake. Let me know if you need help with that.
Thanks,
EduardHi mille,
Thanks for the clarification. We’ll work on finding this specific issue. I’ll let you know when we have a solution.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Mobile Settings OptionHi Lee,
In this demo you can see how the Use native fullscreen on mobile function should work: Mobile Native Fullscreen. If you have the feature turned on and it doesn’t work, please switch to Beta mode and test again.
If that doesn’t help, you can also switch to one of the default WP themes (like Twenty Sixteen) and test it with it.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHi Luke,
The settings should be same for desktop and mobile. Are you still getting this issue? And what does the Video Checker report?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHi Mirco,
I’m sorry, I confused your problem with other issue related to custom video ads only. You probably meant the issue with FV Player VAST, which is partially fixed but can be released in two weeks at the earliest.
I checked your website on iOS 10 and Android 6.1.2 and I was able to get a quick ad in pre-roll. Was this a custom video ad?
Thanks,
EduardHi mille,
I just realized that some other user has reported a similar issue and we are already working on it, but it will require to upgrade our core engine to Flowplayer 7 and that is scheduled on September.
There is also a chance, that it’s not related to the issue I meant. Could you test this with using one of the default WP themes (for instance Twenty Sixteen)?
Thanks,

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player 6.2.6 Video Checker ErrorHi Luke,
We, unfortunately, lack resources and time to deal with this issue right now. There is no reliable emulator of PS4 that we could use for testing and even having a live console wouldn’t do much help because it’s hard to use it for debugging. For now, we can only rely on the Flowplayer team to make progress with this. You can track their work in this thread on GitHub.
Thanks,

But as I said, if you don’t mind to wait, we’ll be happy to work with you.

7 years ago in reply to: FV Player VASTHi Mirco,
We had to turn off support for YouTube videos in video ads on mobile until we figure out how to make the system more resilient. See the original Changelog entry:
0.8.14 – 2017/04/20
- Video Ads – YouTube – we received reports that some low-end mobile devices have issues when there is a video ad with a YouTube video. We are disabling the video ad playback when there is a YouTube video for mobile for now, until we figure out which low-end mobile devices should be excluded
Thanks,
EduardHi Luke,
It seems that you have set the expiration time of the URL signature to just 15 minutes, while the video is 45 minutes long. Is it possible that someone watches the video for let’s say 20 minutes, the video buffers to 3/4 and when he seeks to the end of the video, the URL is already expired?
Could you please also check the Video Checker and see what message are you getting?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not found7 years ago in reply to: Html5: Video file not found – Vimeo dash7 years ago in reply to: dash: Video File Not Found *URGENT*7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHello Sergio,
This was caused by an issue with switching between various CDNs Vimeo uses for delivering the MPEG-Dash streams. We have just released a fix for this in the latest update. All you need to do is to upgrade the Pro plugin to version 0.8.27 and the MPEG-Dash streaming should work properly.
Just follow this process to check if it works correctly:
- Play the video
- You should be able to see “FV Player Pro: Preloading {video id} of video/fv-mp4 type” and “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH found!” in browser console
- Now you can check m4s files in browser developer tool’s network tab. You will probably get these from skyfire.vimeocdn.com
- If some segment fails to load 4 times you will see that in the nework tab and you will also see “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH error, retry 1!” in the console
- That means the fallback is activated and you should see “FV Player Pro: Preloading {video id} of video/fv-mp4 type” on console again
- This time it will play the second MPEG-DASH stream – on the network tab you should see m4s files coming in from 45skyfiregce-vimeo.akamaized.net or something similar, but not skyfire.vimeo.cdn
- If that also fails, you will see “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH error, retry 2!” and it will fallback to MP4 file as last resort
Please let us know if the fix worked.
Thanks,

EduardHello Le Nhu,
I’m sorry but I don’t understand the issue here. You would like to use FV Player with JW Player’s skin? Or you are unable to use Vimeo and YouTube videos in FV Player?
The latter is available only in the paid Pro version.
Thanks,
EduardHi Cory,
I’m sorry but making the videos private will restrict the YouTube’s own Chromeless API (which our player is using for delivering content) to not show the videos even in third party players.
Even if the video was shown while being private, there would be no problem to download it with any of the free video downloading extensions.
If you want to protect your videos from downloading, you will, unfortunately, have to look for another hosting solution.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Pro + StickyVideo (WP Plugin)Hi Dan,
I tried the plugin and it didn’t work with FV Player. It seems that Sticky Video supports only the hostings listed on their plugin page on WordPress.org and doesn’t support any third-party players.
We could do some more testing when our senior programmer returns from his vacation in two weeks.
Thanks,

7 years ago in reply to: dash: Video File Not Found *URGENT*Hi Simon,

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: dash: Video File Not Found *URGENT*Hi Matt,
You can use https://revealit.me/ – it will create an encrypted message that can be opened only once and then will delete itself.
Thanks,
EduardHi Cory,
That just proves that private videos can’t be played by the users, only by yourself. As I said, I’m not sure if this is caused because you are logged in your browser, or by some kind of cookie, but if you would try to watch your own video you mentioned in your first message in browser’s private mode, you will be unable to do so.
Therefore you should edit the privacy options on YouTube and make the video public if you want others to watch it.
Thanks,
Eduard- This reply was modified 7 years, 3 months ago by Eduard.
7 years ago in reply to: quality switching and mobile versionsHi Steve,
Could you also send us a link to a site with a video where the problem can be seen? We’ll review our end after that.
Thanks,
EduardHi Ken,
Older iOS devices, for example, all iPhones and iPods with iOS version 9 and lower enforce fullscreen by default – it’s a core device setting that cannot be overridden. This was the case of iPads, but I think that they stopped enforcing the fullscreen earlier than iOS 10.
This could also have another cause – some time ago we added an option to FV Player that enforces the fullscreen on all mobile devices. You can check if it’s turned on in Settings > FV Player Pro > Setup tab > Mobile Settings > Force fullscreen on mobile (beta). You can read more about the Mobile Settings in this blog post.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: license not lifetime?Hello Jon,
The FV Player Pro license is for a lifetime in the instances of using the plugin, but the updates are received only when the license is active (a year from purchase or renewal). That means you can use our plugin after expiration without any restrictions, you just won’t receive updates or email support. You can always renew the license in https://foliovision.com/my-licenses. You can read more about our licensing policy here – Commercial License.
Thanks,
EduardHi Stephen,
The private videos can be watched by other users since they are not public on YouTube. You can watch them on FV Player because you are logged in your browser. At least I think that the behaviour works like this. Could you please check the first video in this demo to confirm that?

Thanks for sharing the settings you have used. I’m planning to update the encoding guide and I’ll surely test these.

We have updated our Video Checker just a couple of minutes ago, so now you should be able to analyze both files yourself and the Checker will generate suggestions on what you should fix in the encoding process.
The analysis of your video shows this message:
You are using the h264 High Profile for your video. To play on iOS devices you should use the h264 Baseline Profile.

Could you send us a link to the page where you have the video, so we could test it?
Thanks,
EduardHi Luke,
We (unfortunately) don’t have a PS4 in our office to test it. However, it seems that the problem is in the Flowplayer engine, on which FV Player is built upon. According to this thread, you are not the only one who is experiencing this issue, so it will hopefully be resolved soon, so we can implement the changes into our own player.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Videos not playing on AndroidHi Michael,
Sorry for the wrong link, here is the correct one.
As for your video, I did some testing on older Android Samsung devices, both physical and emulated via BrowserStack and the video on your page played on all of them without any problems. These are the devices I used (all with Firefox):
- Samsung Galaxy X Cover 3 – Mozilla/5.0 (Android 4.4.4; Mobile; rv:54.0) Gecko/54.0 Firefox/54.0
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 – Mozilla/5.0 (Android 4.1.2; Tablet; rv:54.0) Gecko/54.0 Firefox/54.0
- Samsung Galaxy S5 – Mozilla/5.0 (Android 6.0.1; Mobile; rv:54.0) Gecko/54.0 Firefox/54.0
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 – Mozilla/5.0 (Android 4.4.2; Tablet; rv:51.0) Gecko/51.0 Firefox/51.0 (emulated)
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 – Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-us; sdk Built/MR1 ) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/534.30 (emulated)
You could try out the demo video I sent you on the devices you used for testing. If it plays, you could try to post the source video on your website through FV Player. The source URL is https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/fv-player-unprotected/test-handbrake.mp4. The type of connection could also be a factor, so let me know if you did your testing on Wifi, or on mobile network.

7 years ago in reply to: FV Player ImplementationHi Aaron,
It seems from your screenshots that you have tried to use an HLS stream. This streaming protocol truly requires Flash on desktop, but won’t work without setting the cross-domain policy file on your server.
You can also avoid using Flash by using the HLS.js, so the desktop browsers can play it in HTML5. Both of these cases are explained in our guide – Using HLS With FV Player.
